Painting Like a Crazy Lady

I love creating portraits, particularly women faces.  I feel we have such expression that I like to explore.  My main mediums are loose graphite or charcoal, or PanPastels.    My rendering of my portraits are contrived, I naturally lean toward being precise.  Sometime I can be quite obsessed with getting proportions just tight.  I've had this burning desire to become more loose and creative.  Plus I've been wanting  to be more comfortable other mediums such as acrylic paint and oil paints.  I have been journaling about this wanting so I surrendered this desire to the Universe,  believing that a resolve would come.

And... it did in the form of abstract art!

I now know that I do not want to put myself in a box and limit my creativity to only one style.
I have been making abstract art and painting like a crazy lady!  Making a mess and cleaning it up, making a mess and cleaning it up, over and over again.
Frickin' lovin it!!!
Here's my first 7 pieces that are for sale on my website, IF one speaks to you.

Join the fun!

I will be teaching a Create Art with Abandon class for teens-11yrs +
(grown-ups are invited to come, too)
at:
The Collective + Makery
4724 Main Street, Lisle, IL 60532
Saturday,  January 20  9:00am-11:00am

Creating art with abandon is about letting your creative spirit out to play without concern of the finished piece or outcome.
In this class you will have a starting point.
No white page/blank canvas staring back at you, unless that is what you want.

When we allow ourselves to create freely it is absolutely amazing
what the end result looks like!
Experience it first hand in this relaxed environment.
Come on and...

NOTE:  There will be a class for adults to be scheduled in February.
Let me know if you are interested in, at least, knowing when it will be.

share your smile

Each of us have a story we could tell about how a smile,
given or received,
changed the course of events in our life.
(if only for a moment)

In 2015 I started a Smile Project - I set out to find people who believed in the value of a smile as I did.  I asked each person to send me a photo of them smiling.  I charcoal paint/draw each smiling face.  Then you and your smile are included in my Smile Project.  You see... I want real people, with real smiles.  I can only do this with your help, your smile.

The clock is ticking.
My goal is to acquire 52 smiling faces + me by the end of this year or sooner.   Right now I have 29 beautiful smiles.  I need 23 more smiling faces in order for this project to move on to the next phase.
Send me YOUR smile.

Here is what I want to do:
#1.  create a very big piece of art with all of YOUR smiling faces
#2.  the message it will carry is "when you smile the world smiles with you
#3.  I envision it being exhibited in many places to promote the value of a smile

I am asking that you, YES YOU, join me and these ladies by sharing your smile.

All you have to do is email me a photo of you smiling: smileee001@aol.com
Do it TODAY and join the fun.  You'll be glad you did!

Creatives-Celebrating Sisterhood Art Retreat

It can be a heartfelt warm + fun + exciting time meeting up with other creative spirits.  I had the privilege of meeting up with a group of creative women at a beautiful setting in Lake Geneva, WI.  The retreat was sponsored by Linda Barutha of Live-Laugh-Love Retreats. I was fortunate enough to be there the 1st day with all of these great women.  I (we) were able to pack alot of fun in the short amount of time.  Most of these ladies I have come to know thru a on-line class we took together 2011.  We are fondly known as the Fly Girls.  This is the first time I have met most of them.  Which was exciting within itself.
This is our group.

Me and my good gal pal, Debbie.
She was my sidekick and my roomie for the night.
We laughed hard and often during our time together, as we always seem to do.

I'm looking at the pages I contributed to a journal titled,
For the Love of Creativity.

It's time to give up my tiara for a crown, don't you think?  I am totally infatuated with this crown that Kris made.  Know what else?  She makes one of a kind custom jewelry.  Go check her site out and tell me what you think.  http://www.cherishdesigns.wordpress.com  Tell her I sent you and maybe, just maybe,

 **wink**wink**

I'll be able to get a crown very soon.

the fun continues

I have an on line friend, Deborah, who actually was the first person that I got to know when I started blogging.  I don't remember how I found her but I am glad that I did.  We follow each other's blogs encouraging each other along the way.  In fact, she was a creative Late Bloomer in my first vase.

She suggested talking on Google+ Hang Out.  (if you want to know more about it, let me know) I had never heard of it before but I was immediately on board.  It's similar to Skype or Face Time.  We connected this evening and it was sooooo much fun.  The funny part is I could see her but she, for some reason, couldn't see me.  It didn't faze her one bit.  We chatted and laughed. Talked about our dreams.  How proud we are of being Grandmothers.  All that great stuff!  We will do it again, I'm sure.

I am loving the connections I am getting from kindred spirits.  It must be in the air because I am hearing similar stories from some of my other on-line friends.

Have you connected with someone lately?

Altered Brush Project

I had signed up for Donna Downey's Altered Brush Project.   It was alot of fun creating art out of a ordinary paint brush.  It didn't take me long to decide that I wanted showcase the current creative Late Bloomers from my other site .  You know when you are working on something that so exciting you have hard time putting it down?  Well that is what I felt for this project.  I think it turned out cute.

being a kid

I couldn't resist the invitation. Even if it meant that half the water would come out once I sat down.
Delaina and Brayden didn't mind. They had fun with us playing together.
Sometimes it's a good thing to just have fun and let the little kid out to play.

art abandonment

I happened upon a blog this morning.  I'd say it was perfect timing to have found it.  Yesterday I was speaking with a friend about how I wanted to bring back into my life some of the spontaneous, light heartiness I had when I was younger.  She reminded me that it is still there, I just need to use it.  Then I found this blog.  Wasn't looking for it, it just found me.  Thank You, Heather, for letting me speak my desire out loud.  Thank You, Universe, for presenting this wonderful opportunity.  Thank You, Inner Child Teresa, for following through.

The blog is Art Abandonment.  It's about randomly placing pieces of art in public places for other people to discover as gifts.  What a cool concept!  This morning I made something and I had a blast .  When it came time to deliver this piece I was like a little kid.  I was surprised how nervously, giddy I was.

I just returned from abandoning a piece of art. It was soooooo frickin fun! I went to Portillos restaurant and put my piece of art in the toilet area. I was in the stall waiting for everyone to leave the bathroom so I could get a picture. I thought that would be just a little peculiar if they heard me clicking my camera while I was in a stall. People kept coming in so I had to flush several times to cover my camera noise. I was silently laughing hysterically on the inside.

You know the saying that there is more fun in giving than receiving. Well I'd have to agree!
