I'm taking an on-line class with Misty Mawn called "Face to Face", she teaches how to draw faces. This class is for 6 weeks and is a learn at your own pace. This style of class is my favorite because it seems like the pressure is off. The private Facebook group is extremely encouraging and supportive.
I've been devouring the training videos and filling up on knowledge. I realized that I was so absorbed in the videos that I wasn't drawing. I made a conscious decision to jump right in and do my first drawing. I started with pencil then shaded with charcoal. What do you think so far?

love yourself
As some of you may know, most of my artwork is created because of something I may be feeling at the time or is something I know I need to work on. My artwork is under an umbrella titled "Simple Truths/Simple Reminders". They are simple truth and simple reminders for me as well as for others. I hope you enjoy my latest piece. For some reason, not sure why, this one touches me deeply. Must be an indicator...

another great Thursday
My friend, Heather, and I have been setting aside time on Thursdays to do something together. What we do is usually spontaneous. We laugh together, we have deep conversations together and we overcome fear together. Fear-like visiting the art guild thinking it was out of our league as artists. We even skipped down the side walk to psyche ourselves up only to realize that we actually fit right in. (imagine that!) What a profound message we learned, "we had nothing to fear, except fear itself". There is this spiritual meditation place that we have both wanted to learn more about yet we never acted on it. On one Thursday we visited it together and it ended up being a very delightful place. We chatted with two ladies in there and I know we brightened their day. Later in the car we were talking about our experience and ended up laughing sooooo hard I had tears rolling down my face. Even thinking about that time brings a huge smile to my face.
