Outside Studio

I moved my art studio outside on my patio this morning. There was nothing better than being outside in nature while I painted with charcoal.   I was experiencing bliss!

After about 15 minutes of being outside I gathered up some assistants to make the day even more enjoyable.
It rained a little, I ducked (pardon the pun) inside.  After the brief shower, I went back outside and finished my charcoal painting.

Watercoloring

We all know what it's like to try something new.
I woke up Monday morning with a clear indication to paint using watercolors.  Totally new medium for me but I thought "what the heck".  How will I know if I like it or not if I don't give it a try.  So I began.
I did these in the last 3 days.  I can see improvement by the time I finished portrait #4, yet I have a very long way to go.  Not sure if watercolring is for me or not so until I know for sure I will keep trying.    I am so used to using an eraser to correct my markings and with watercolors you can't do that.  On several of the protraits I tried to correct an error and ended up removing paper instead.  OOps!  Finally by portrait #4 I knew to just walk away.

Smile Project update

I would love for YOU, yes YOU,
to join me in this collaborative piece of art.

This is an update to the absolutely beautiful smiles that are presently part of my Smile Project.  They make me smile when I look at them!
What are you waiting for?  Come join in the fun!

One morning last year, as I woke up, this idea was in my head.  It's been residing in my heart waiting to come to fruition.  Lately,  I've been feeling little nudges urging me to get it out of my heart and out into the world.   My intention is to create a piece of art expressing the value of a smile and the title is tentatively going to be "When You Smile the World Smiles with You".  (this title is subject to change during the creative process)

This is where you come in:
IF you believe in the value of a smile and want to participate all you have to do is email me a hi-res photo of you smiling to smileee001@aol.com - in the subject line please type smiling face.  Once I receive your photo I will draw your smiling face and I will let you know when I will be posting it.
In most instances, your photo on your facebook profile will do.   When I have gathered enough smiling faces I will be creating a very unique and fun piece of art.

In my dream

After meditation, this morning, I had this incredible urge to write a poem.  Normally I would brush it off saying to myself that I am not a poet.  Instead ... I got a pen and paper and wrote it down.
Peculiar how things can be, isn't it?

In my dream
It felt as it the Universe was speaking to me
When I awoke I thought it would be true
That I would know just what to do
The dream escaped me so it seems
Messages can be tangled within our dreams

I'll let it go
This need to know
Instead I will listen to the whispers within the day
And yield to what they say
For it's thru listening that we learn our way

Good Start

We are off to a good start for the collaborative Smile Project.

In most instances, your photo on your facebook profile will do.   When I have gathered enough smiling faces I will be creating a very unique and fun piece of art.

Please note: (it was suggested I go over these with you)
  • This project will be a piece of art that may be sold at a later date.  You are aware that you will not be compensated in any way.
  • When you send me your photo you are giving me permission to use the drawing of your smiling face on facebook, my blog, and in the piece f art I will be creating
  • Your identity, other than your smiling face, will never be revealed by me.

I would LOVE for you to join me in this collaborative piece of art.
