In my dream

After meditation, this morning, I had this incredible urge to write a poem.  Normally I would brush it off saying to myself that I am not a poet.  Instead ... I got a pen and paper and wrote it down.
Peculiar how things can be, isn't it?

In my dream
It felt as it the Universe was speaking to me
When I awoke I thought it would be true
That I would know just what to do
The dream escaped me so it seems
Messages can be tangled within our dreams

I'll let it go
This need to know
Instead I will listen to the whispers within the day
And yield to what they say
For it's thru listening that we learn our way

Good Start

We are off to a good start for the collaborative Smile Project.  

   

One morning last year, as I woke up, this idea was in my head.  It's been residing in my heart waiting to come to fruition.  Lately,  I've been feeling little nudges urging me to get it out of my heart and out into the world.   My intention is to create a piece of art expressing the value of a smile and the title is tentatively going to be "When You Smile the World Smiles with You".  (this title is subject to change during the creative process)

                       

                      

This is where you come in:  
IF you believe in the value of a smile and want to participate all you have to do is email me a hi-res photo of you smiling to smileee001@aol.com - in the subject line please type smiling face.  Once I receive your photo I will draw your smiling face and I will let you know when I will be posting it.

In most instances, your photo on your facebook profile will do.   When I have gathered enough smiling faces I will be creating a very unique and fun piece of art.

• This project will be a piece of art that may be sold at a later date.  You are aware that you will not be compensated in any way. 
• When you send me your photo you are giving me permission to use the drawing of your smiling face on facebook, my blog, and in the piece f art I will be creating

Personas

I've heard it said that variety is the spice of life.  I'm practicing he same concept in art.  I wanted to create several ladies that were different from each other.  I think I accomplished that.

She's titled Friday Night for obvious reasons.  She's a little sassy and sexy.  All dressed up and ready to party because it is... Friday Night.

One of my favorite pieces of art to do are the ones carrying a powerful message.  Her message is "your heart knows the way".  I am taking her little further so she can carry her message a long, long way.  I'll be sure to show you when she's done.

Today I decided to stretch myself and draw a a girl with a stylish look and an attitude to go with her.  I am  pleased with the results and I believe that her attitude is definitely coming across.

Each of these, plus many more, contain an aspect of my character.  And you know what?  Probably the same is true for you, too.  That's OK.  It makes us interesting!  Maybe I will consider to keep going in this direction to bring out more reflective characters.  Something to think about.

taking a look

Lately, I have been taking a look into the mirror.  

(figuratively speaking, that is)

I've become aware of traits and tendencies emerging that I am not fond of.  They do not mesh with the person I am wanting to be.  It's interesting how one can think we have it all figured out then BAM! you realize you don't.  So I ask myself the questions, many questions.  I get quiet.  Most of my answers will come, some in ways I least expect.

One thing I absolutely know for sure is...your heart knows the answer.

I am without proper words to express my full gratitude.  I am happy, yet not totally surprised, to say that I have found a boutique that is a perfect fit for me and my art.    I say I am not surprised because I have always known that all I need to do is show up and do the work, listen for guidance, then follow, and the vital step is to let go of the outcome.  When I let go The Universe/God will step in to take care of the results.  I will admit that some days it all seems bleak and my ego wants to take charge and plant negative ideas in my head.  Sometimes I buy into the nonsense.  I will even go one step further to say that it is not easy to quiet that chatter.  I just keep trying to be better.

Today I met with Charlene at the Sanctuary Community Center with the intention to show her my handmade journals to see if she was interested in having them in her boutique.  As soon as I walked thru the door there was this sense of calm that enveloped me.  I felt "at home".  The aura in the room was peaceful and serene.

Charlene began looking at my journals and one by one pulled them out and expressed her sincere appreciation for the art and for each message conveyed.  Needless to say, she LOVED them, all of them.  I will soon be delivering my art to be hung in the gallery space.

In between the layers of HTML codes

In the past couple of weeks I have been diligently (I was just told that diligence is one of the Seven Heavenly Virtues) revising my website to reflect who I feel I am today.  Sitting in a chair, in front of my computer screen, and working away.  My butt and neck were getting sore.  I am soooo happy to say that it is done, minus a little tweaking here and there.  I pushed the publish button today.  Please take a moment to go check it out.  http://www.teresacashart.com. 

I am taking myself more seriously as an artist and making a shift in my thinking process.  This is who I am.  This is what I am meant to be doing.  The business side of me being an artist has always been a awkward for me to navigate.  Yet the truth is... in order for me to pursue my dream and earn a living from it the business side is imperative.

Now that I am done with my website I am 100% aware of the importance of creating art everyday.
