John and I just returned from a few days in the Dominican Republic. There is something about the warm sun across my back and listening to the ocean waves that opens up a wellspring of inspiration to just draw and draw, so that is just what I did. Maybe it's the ability to release concerns and just enjoy the moment. I'm not sure what it is but I sure like it. At my lounge chair I made a drawing surface by using my pencil box and towel. I was in my own little world.
Here are the drawings that came from the time on the beach.
I even challenged myself to 15 minute light-hearted sketchings.
My husband, bless him, became my model. I had to convince him that they weren't suppose to look exactly like him, that this was only an exercise. That I was to draw him in 15 minutes. Again, I had never done this before. I like the free flowing feeling that came along with it. Most times I am trying so hard to be precise that I forget to "let go".
It was all fun and that is what art is all about.
Love your drawings! Such a gifted artist you are!
ReplyDeleteIt's so neat to see all these together. I really enjoyed seeing them on FB, but all together like this is that much more special. You look like a natural at the beach. Your sketches of your husband are great too!
